Durability

When assessing the durability of a material, the types of forces that it will be exposed to need to be considered. Durability can be divided into seven broad categories:

  • Blunt puncture resistance
  • Sharp puncture resistance
  • Abrasion resistance
  • Cutting resistance
  • Tear initiation
  • Tear propagation
  • Abrasion resistance

The relative durability of common stable webs and sealant materials are detailed below.
